The church held its final service in June and the building has since been sold.
However, the contents of the church needed to be "rehoused with sensitivity", according to Father Robert Murphy from St Peter's Anglican Church in Leeton.
Fr Robert had been conducting the services at Whitton prior to the church there being closed.
"Some of the items have gone to the Whitton museum and other items have come here to St Peter's," he said.
"So. what we have done is bring the altar and the reredos from St John's into Leeton as a memorial to the Whitton parish and those who established the church."
MORE NEWS:
"The altar is in memory of Joseph Nathaniel Ward, who was a priest at Whitton and died in 1929. It was placed in the church in his memory by the parishioners.
"The reredos was the gift of Mary Scott."
Of course, with anything that is decades old, a little extra love and attention was required to get the altar and reredos looking great once again.
That is where David Annetts from the All Pro Group came on board.
Mr Annetts, a cabinet maker, refurbished the piece and said it was a project unlike anything else he has ever undertaken.
"There was quite a bit of work done with the restoration once it was dismantled ... a whole new back was put on due to the age of it," he said.
"It was nice to be able to take a skill set that has been developed over many years and diversify that into a project like this."
