The Commonwealth Government is continuing to refine its plans to deliver the vaccine and announced all Australians eligible for Medicare and all visa-holders will be entitled to the vaccine for free.
The government has released a schedule which will see quarantine and border staff, frontline health workers and aged care residents and staff to be among the first to receive it. So far only the Pfizer vaccine has provisional approval and is expected to begin being rolled out later this month.
Leeton Discount Pharmacy and Amcal pharmacist TJ Patel said they had applied to be part of the Phase 2a vaccine rollout.
"We are interested in offering the vaccine at our two locations," Mr Patel said.

Phase 2a is set to begin in May this year and will be for people aged between 50 and 69 years old, for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders aged between 18 and 54 and other high-risk workers.
Mr Patel said the potential to see an end of the COVID-19 pandemic to end following a vaccination program was exciting.
While pharmacies are being invited to apply to be part of the vaccination program, Mr Patel said there were still details to be worked out including how residents access their vaccine and how many each pharmacy will be provided with.
What extra precautions are needed for the vaccine, staff administering it and were also unknown.
He expected it would be different to the flu shot program where people can walk into a pharmacy and receive their influenza vaccination.
For herd immunity to become effective a large number of people would need to receive a COVID vaccination, however he said the jab was a better alternative than an outbreak of the virus in regional Australia.
Mr Patel said staff at the two pharmacies had been asked by customers when they were likely to have the vaccine available. Pharmacies are expected to be told whether they will participate in the vaccination program in mid-March.
