We love the sense of hype it creates for business owners to be recognised for their hard work and dedication.

However, I guess you could say we are a little "gun shy" to facilitate such a mammoth event in 2021 after the abrupt cancellation to the 2020 business awards.

With COVID cases still making headlines we are apprehensive the same fate of function restrictions and travel bans would be placed on this year's business awards.

Organising an event such as the business awards entails sponsors acquisition and management, promoting and coordinating nominations, encouraging nominees to participate by filling in their submission questionnaire, organising and liaising with judges, organising and promoting the gala event, organising trophies and certificates ... really the list goes on.

To use valuable volunteer time and paying a co-ordinator to assist with organising and promoting the event that may or may not go ahead, it was fair to say we had to come up with a new plan.

It was decided we would like to utilise our resources more effectively and also provide something beneficial for the business community.

Something that motivates and inspires our business owners to keep going after an unpredictable year in 2020.

This year we are going to focus on creating events that help you do business even better.

Events like hosting interesting guest speakers that provide great insight and professional knowledge to add to your business acumen.

Also, we found that local networking events have worked fantastically in the past.

Creating awareness of a local business to other business owners can facilitate valuable new business relationships.

While we may not be hosting one of our biggest events for the year, the Leeton Business Chamber will still be focused on facilitating suitable events for our members and the business community throughout 2021.
