The Griffith and Leeton branch of the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) is sounding the call for more volunteers as they look to get back up and running in 2021.
COVID had a massive impact on the organisations operations last year, shutting down all the programs for their participants and volunteers.
The most important thing is we need more volunteers
- Maddelene Miotello, Griffith-Leeton Riding for the Disabled
The association is holding an open day this weekend and fundraising coordinator Maddalene Miotello said it is crucial people step forward to help out.
"The most important thing is we need more volunteers," Mrs Miotello said.
"We didn't operate last year because of COVID, and even in 2019 some days we struggled."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Mrs Miotello said if anyone is interested in helping out with leading the horses and fundraising for the association, they should come down to the open day and "see what it's all about".
"There are many different roles, you can lead the horses or just help out making tea in the centre ... whatever your talent, we can use it!"
"If they've got any questions at all, come on down and we can answer them," she said.
Mrs Miotello wasn't sure yet exactly how often the sessions would be taking place this year, but she said she was keen to get back in the swing of things - hopefully with some extra helping hands.
The open day is on Saturday, March 6 from 10 to 11am and will be held at the Griffith Centre at Dalton Park.
All volunteers must complete a Working with Children Check, which can be done on the day.
The Griffith-Leeton RDA is also looking to fill the position of treasurer, for more information contact Cherie Berton on 0418 817 409.
