The Bulls made it two wins from as many games in the return of the open-age competition with a 30-14 win over Illawarra-South Coast at Shellharbour on Sunday.

The Bulls lead 18-4 at half-time, after James Luff missed a penalty goal attempt right on the break, before a high error rate helped the Dragons get back into the contest.

The home side cut the margin to four points 13 minutes into the second half before the Bulls kicked back into gear.

Luff dived over to score a crucial try with 14 minutes remaining to end any hopes of a comeback.

Dane O'Hehir then iced the win in the dying stages.

After scoring a thrilling win over Macquarie Wests Tigers last week, coach Luke Berkrey was pleased with how the team backed up their performance.

Even though they were slow out of the blocks in the second half.

"Some errors crept into our game, and we were pretty ill-disciplined with penalties again, but the good thing is it is things we can get better," Berkrey said.

"The guys certainly worked really hard again, their effort was great, but we kept them in the game.

"However we were probably a bit too classy in the end."

Cody Hodge got the Bulls on the board in the opening minutes when he swooped on a kick to score but the Dragons hit back after a mistake after the restart.

Derek Hay then extended Riverina's lead as he scored following a lovely 40-20 kick put the Bulls in great field position.

Tolo Aroha-Tuinauvai then forced his way over with 10 left in the half to give Riverina a good lead heading into the break.

However Berkrey is hoping the side can be more clinical in a fortnight's time when they head into the semi-final.

"It's pleasing the guys have come this far but we want to keep going now," he said.

Luff and O'Hehir were standouts for the Bulls while Zac Masters led the pack forward well.

Brayden Draber also impressed after receiving a late call up Tom Sellars pulled out for the second straight week.
