That's the vibe received when the OzHarvest Australia mobile van rolled into Leeton recently.
The van was in town as part of a program that is helping address issues such as social isolation, drought recovery, the pandemic.
Known as the OzHarvest Mobile Market (OMM), the program is an initiative to provide regional communities such as Leeton with access to fresh produce free of charge.
The van rolled into Leeton for the first time recently, pulling up at the Leeton Salvation Army's headquarters after they jumped on board to assist and work with the organisation to deliver this vital service to the community.
OzHarvest's OMM project lead Gabriella Dal Pozzo said the mobile market provided a safe and welcoming space for community members who had or were experiencing difficult times.
"The idea is to provide the fresh fruit and vegetables to at least give these people the (opportunity) to be eating right while they try to recover," she said.
The program has been running for around six months now, but the visit to Leeton was the first.
However, it won't be the last, with the OMM set to be back in town around about every three weeks.
Ms Dal Pozzo said linking up with an organisation like the Leeton Salvation Army was crucial.
"(The program) completely relies on the input and guidance of local individuals, organisations and leaders ... one of the best examples we have seen of this was our very first visit to Leeton, which was facilitated by the incredible Salvation Army (there)," she said.
"The response was really fantastic. There was people from all walks of life that popped by to say hello. It was a very warm welcome for our team.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"The message so far is that yes our service is wanted (in Leeton)."
Plenty of people stopped by to take advantage of the help on offer and the OMM team is already keen to come back once again.
Donations of fruit and vegetables are also accepted for the event as the program looks to extend its reach and help as many people as possible in the Leeton shire area.
OMM visits to the Riverina and Leeton are every three weeks. Specific town locations and times are updated at this website www.ozharvest.org/omm-nsw for people to check.
Feedback or ideas about the program can be emailed to omm@ozharvest.org.
OzHarvest is Australia's leading food rescue organisation. At its core, the organisation saves surplus food and delivers this to charities that help people in need.
