In a call out to potential AFLW stars, or those just keen to expand their skills, the Giants are holding trials for southern NSW players in Wagga, Narrandera and Albury.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The Giants Female Development Program is for players aged 12 to 15 years, and follows on from the club introducing girls academies for under 17s and under 19s.
The aim is to help improve their skills and feed into the youth girls competitions.
"We want to work with them to develop their motor skills, decision making and athletic ability for AFL but they're transferable across other sports too," Giants development program's Rebecca McGowan said.
"We want to develop footballers for local competitions. In the long term, there'll be more female footy and this is a program to fast-track their development and to mirror the programs for the boys."
The Wagga trials are on Monday (5pm, Bolton Park) with Narrandera Sportsground to follow on Wednesday at 5pm. Albury also hosts a trial at lunchtime this Saturday.
As holders of an AFLW licence (something their Sydney rivals, the Swans, don't have), the Giants are keen to expand their presence throughout southern NSW.
The girls program provides a pathway for female footballers from under 12s right through to elite competition.
The Giants have also added under 12s to their boys development program from this year.
