Over the next week, the Leeton Medical Centre and the Leeton Medical Practice will be delivering the Astra Zeneca vaccine to residents eligible to be vaccinated in "phase 1b" of the national rollout.
Those eligible include healthcare workers currently employed and not included in "phase 1a"; critical and high risk workers currently employed; people aged 70 years and older; adults with an underlying medical condition, including disability; and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over 55 years.
The Leeton Medical Centre will begin administering the vaccine on Tuesday afternoon and the Leeton Medical Practice is aiming to start on Monday next week.
Leeton Medical Centre's Simon Wallace says all staff at the centre are fully trained and ready to start the rollout now that supplies have arrived.
"We've received the vaccine now and we're good to go," Dr Wallace said.

"All the nurses have fairly extensive qualifications in vaccinations anyway but there's actually six online modules that the government have set up which everyone at the practice has done."
"Everyone that is going to be involved in administering the vaccine has gone through the extra training."
Eligible residents are now able to make bookings to receive the vaccine at the Leeton Medical Centre over the phone.
According to Dr Wallace, there is a lot of interest already from Leeton residents.
"The first two clinics are fully-booked and from what I can tell a lot of people are keen to get the vaccine," Dr Wallace said.
"Unfortunately we're only receiving a limited amount of the vaccine at the moment, about 80 doses a week, so we're probably not actually going to have enough vaccines to meet the demand at first."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Dr Wallace said the vaccine arriving in Leeton was an exciting moment.
"Im excited not just as a doctor, but as an Australian citizen I think," he said.
"I think it's just good that it's rolling out and hopefully we can get it out as quick as we can to as many people as we can."
"There's a little bit of an issue with some people being a bit suspicious of it I think ... some people think it's been developed a bit quickly. But I think they don't understand the process these things have to go thorugh to get approved and prove themselves safe."
Dr Wallace urged all residents to receive the vaccine when they can.
According to the Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network, Riverina residents will be informed of more general practices commencing vaccinations over the coming weeks.
