Fast forward 12 months and the shire is getting ready to mark the long weekend with several events after effectively being locked down for Easter in 2020.
Church services were cancelled, family gatherings not allowed and events were also called off.
However, in 2021 there will be plenty happening in Leeton shire as restrictions continue to ease and events start to return once again.
Here's a taste of some of what's happening in Leeton shire over the course of the long weekend:
Penny Paniz Acquisitive Arts Competition and Exhibition
THE Leeton Art Society is hosting the annual Penny Paniz Acquisitive Arts Competition and Exhibition throughout the Easter long weekend.
The exhibition will be on display at the Leeton Museum and Gallery from 10am to 3pm throughout the weekend. Gold coin entry.
Winners of the competition will be announced during a special event on Thursday evening.
MIA Cruisers show and shine
The club will be hosting a show and shine that is promising to have something for everyone on Easter Saturday at Leeton's town ovals carpark.
Cars from a range of eras from clubs across the region are expected to take part, with hot rods also set to feature.
A carnival-like atmosphere will also be part of the fun thanks to a coffee van, hot doughnuts, children's rides and more all available on the day.
Prizes will be awarded in various categories. The best part is, the event is open to the whole community to attend for just a gold coin donation, which will later be given back to a charity of choosing by the club. Public entry will open from 9am.
Leeton Farmers and Makers Market
THE monthly markets will coincide with Easter fun in the sun on Saturday.
With the weather looking absolutely perfect on Easter Saturday, Mountford Park will be the ideal backdrop for this event from 9am to 1pm. A huge variety of stalls will be on offer with plenty of goodies all ready for purchase. Grab a coffee and take a wander around to see what might catch your eye.
Hot air balloons
THE hot air balloons will make a return to Leeton this Easter.
Picture This Ballooning will have pilots in town with the balloons set to go up for private flights throughout the course of the long weekend.
Sunrise and sunset will provide the perfect opportunity for residents to catch a glimpse of these balloons as they glide through the air above Leeton.
As it is not a SunRice Festival year, there will be no balloon glow, but it is still a sight to be seen.
Open gardens
ON EASTER Monday why not head outdoors and visit the open gardens event at several different locations in town.
Tickets are available at the gardens, with $20 covering the cost of all four. Directions and flags will be available from 11 Brobenah Road on Easter Monday.
