Acacia Avenue is the first of three roads to be rehabilitated with Leeton Shire Council as part of the NSW government's Fixing Local Roads program.
The other two roads council was successful in gaining funding for were Yarran Street and Calrose Street.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Works on these roads will commence in the near future.
Round two of the program has closed and council has applied for works on Whitton Road, as well as Canal Street.
Council is utilising a mechanical stabilisation matrix under the gravel pavement layer.
"The announcement of successful projects for round two of the program are yet to be released," council's manager roads and drainage Chris Lashbrook said.
"In the rehabilitation of the section of Acacia Avenue, council is utilising a mechanical stabilisation matrix under the gravel pavement layer.
"This triaxial plastic mesh spreads traffic loads and gives a sturdy base to which the gravel road pavement will be built upon.
"This saves time in construction and resident disruptions over standard techniques, as well as reducing the design thickness of gravel required."
