The Leeton and District Bowling Club and the Leeton Soldiers Club have six teams across four grades, while the smaller Whitton club has one making a total of seven teams.
When compared for example, with the larger Griffith area, who have only four teams, the Leeton shire's sides are doing very well.
There has been a decline in lawn bowls over a period of time and this year saw the unfortunate withdrawal of both Yenda and Hillston teams.
While the healthy numbers are pleasing, the presidents from the two Leeton club's respective bowling organisations, Neil Ditton and Graeme Ahern, said they were happy with the way the sides were performing.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Seven rounds have been completed and, with a break over Easter, it means there are only three weeks left in the 10-round competition.
At this stage the Leeton & District Club in the No 4 grade are in first place over Hay, the Leeton Soldiers Club are on top in grade five with a half a point lead over Narrandera.
The L&D also sits in third place in the No 6 grade and clash with the two top teams in the final games.
Ahern was hopeful the three teams can go on to win their respective grade.
"We have a friendly rivalry with the Soldiers Club and, while we always enjoy beating them, we also are glad when they have success over other clubs," he said.
Ditton agreed and believes the shire was bucking the trend of declining bowls numbers.
Teams winning their respective grades go on to complete at a zone level and, if successful there, compete at a state level.
