Officers were conducting duties along the Sturt Highway at Darlington Point on Saturday morning when they detected the male driver travelling at 145km/h in a 110km/h zone.

After stopping the car, officers spoke to the p-plate driver, an 18-year-old man from Sydney, who produced a NSW P1 provisional license plate which restricts the driver to a maximum speed limit 90km/h.

The driver's license was immediately suspended for six months and he was issued an infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h.

On Sunday, Police conducting random breath tests on Clifton Boulevard at Griffith saw a male exit a moving vehicle just prior to reaching the RBT station.

Police approached and spoke to the 34-year-old who allegedly spat at police and told them he would "king hit" them.

After trying to strike an officer, the man was restrained and taken to Griffith Police Station.

He was charged with having a limb protruding from a moving vehicle, assaulting police and resisting arrest and will appear before the Griffith Local Court in May.

The Murrumbidgee Police District's 2021 Easter Operation ran from 12.01am on Thursday until 11.59pm on Monday, with double demerits in place for speeding, seatbelt, phone and helmet offences.

Police say it was one of the busiest operations the district has ever had.

A record 2000 breath tests were conducted over the long weekend operation, resulting in 13 PCA charges, 8 restraint infringements, 4 mobile phone infringements, and most alarmingly, 132 speed infringements.

Across NSW, 310 people were busted over the blood-alcohol limit.

"It's disappointing that there are still people in the community who aren't getting the message and are putting themselves and others at risk with reckless behaviour," Assistant Commissioner Karen Webb said.
