The works will be conducted across the entire MIA including structures in Murrami and Griffith, as well as on Lake Talbot and will see workers deliver vital upgrades and maintenance to keep the water delivery infrastructure and accompanying systems operating at full capacity for the next 12 months.

In the coming months, MI is expecting a higher water use on winter crops. In conjunction with this, WaterNSW will also be conducting maintenance at Gogelderie Weir and Berembed Weir throughout June and July, putting the integrated MI network to the test.

According to MI CEO Brett Jones, "We will be working closely with customers and using our storages along the network to minimise supply interruptions and will keep customers updated as things progress."

"We are conscious that works can impact people who live, work and travel in the area and have in place a process to keep customers and affected community members informed well in advance".

Those in the MIA impacted directly by the winter works with critical watering needs such as frost protection for citrus, and domestic access where there is no alternative water supply will have the support of the MI Customer Engagement team who will assist customers in finding solutions.

The major projects in the Murrami and Griffith areas are part of State three of the MI's ongoing Automation Project to modernise customers outlets.

"With about 70 per cent of our channel system now automated, completing the automation across the rest of our water delivery network will help us to deliver water to customers in the best way possible," Mr Jones said.

According to MI, sections of some channels where there are no works being conducted will occasionally lowered to allow for inspections and programmed maintenance works which will include channel bank repairs, desilting and pump shed maintenance.
