The Irrigator spoke exclusively with all nine councilors to ascertain their plans for the elections and if they will be standing again.
So who will be throwing their hat in the ring once more?
Mayor Paul Maytom has served as a member of the council for 34 years and has made the decision to not run again.
"I now have another chapter in my life with my family that I am very excited to begin, but I will certainly continue to contribute to the community in other ways," Councillor Maytom said.

In contrast, deputy mayor George Weston said that at this stage he is planning on running for re-election.
"I hope the people will find enough faith in me to vote me in for another four years, there are still many things I would like to see through."
Councillors Tony Ciccia, Sandra Nardi and Tony Reneker are all currently undecided.
"I would like to stand again but it is a big decision as it is a four year commitment. However, I cannot rule it out at the moment. I have thoroughly enjoyed my term on council," Cr Ciccia said.
"Currently I am undecided," Cr Reneker said.
"I have personal personal commitments to consider."
Councillor Michael Kidd said that it was likely he would stand again but was also undecided due to family commitments.
"There are many things that I would like to see through, lots of unfinished business but there is always family to consider first," Cr Kidd said.
"The redevelopments at the Roxy Theatre have been by baby for a number of years so I would really love to stay until at least that is all complete."

Councillor Tracey Morris said she was also undecided at this stage due to the arrival of two new grandchildren in the coming weeks.
"I am currently undecided, I'll just have to wait and see where my family is and how they are going at the point in time where I need to officially declare my intentions two months time."
Cr Maytom will not be the only retiree, after serving for 11 years, Councilor Peter Davidson told The Irrigator that he would not be running for re-election.
"I am happy with my time at council, and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of serving the Leeton Shire," Cr Davidson said.
"However, I think it is time that I step aside and let some new blood come in and would like to encourage any community members thinking of stepping up into this position to go for it."
Councillor Paul Smith said that he was excited to stand for re election come September.
"At this stage I feel like we still have plenty to achieve so I will be standing again. I think to try and to get everything in the first four year term is very ambitious so I would like to have the opportunity to serve at least two terms to make more of a difference."
The 2020 postponement however will not change the date of the following election, with local government elections still due to go ahead in September 2024, shortening the next term to three years.
It seems that a significant shift within Council is on its way, and no clear contenders have staked a claim for the top spot as of yet.
