As part of Make Music Day, Leeton Shire Council has been awarded $15,000 by CreateNSW and the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment to host a groovy event in the town this Sunday.
This live music event will feature appearances by Jannah Beth and True Vibenation, who are travelling to Leeton to take part for this unique occasion.
The aim of Make Music Day is to showcase the joy of music for musicians and audiences across NSW and forms part of the Festival of Place - an inaugural celebration of public spaces across NSW.
That means for three hours on Sunday, from noon to 3pm, Leeton shire residents will be able to head to the town's skate park and enjoy free entertainment from the two Sydney music acts.
Food stalls will also be set up on the day so attendees can sit back, relax, have a bite to eat and listen to the music on offer.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Upbeat, club and tech-house, slow jams and alternative neo-soul will be delivered by Jannath Beth, while True Vibenation will present a blend of soul and afrobeat backed by big bass, big beats and live horns.
Council was one of six successful NSW recipients of the Small Project Grant to allow this event to go ahead.
Council's multicultural support co-ordinator Ken Dachi said the success in gaining the funding was a testament to the shire's growth as a thriving community and its growing network.
"Leeton shire is well recognised in regional and state circles as a vibrant and welcoming place that supports people to connect," Mr Dachi said.
"Public spaces are where we share our stories and values and where we forge the ties that bind us.
Leeton's Make Music Day is a great opportunity to help bring people together and celebrate the heart of our communities."
Sunday's upcoming event comes on the back of two others that recently showcased the shire's communities and places - the Welcoming Cities Symposium held in Sydney and the Multicultural Festival held at the Leeton Museum and Gallery.
Entry to Make Music Day is free and prior registration is not required.
Food will be available for purchase at the event. For more information contact Mr Dachi on 6953 0968.
