On Wednesday, Leeton High School played host to the Western Riverina Careers Expo with students from all over taking the opportunity to see what life might offer for them after school.
There were options galore to explore from universities and industry to career paths with the Australian Defence Force, apprenticeships and the vast array of TAFE courses on offer.
The expo was more spread out than usual due to COVID requirements, meaning there were stalls set up in Leeton High Schools MPC to wander through before heading outside to find out more about businesses in the shire, apprenticeship opportunities, what a career with the NSW Police Force might look like and more.
Students then headed further down the school's ovals to pick up a sausage sizzle from the Aboriginal Education Consultative Group tent before a short stroll down the road to Leeton's TAFE NSW campus.
With all of the bases covered, Leeton High School's careers adviser Nadine Goring, was pleased the day had flowed well.
"We've had a really great response from the students and the schools, they seem to really be finding the day beneficial, which is fantastic," she said.
"It's a bit different this year compared to past years, but I think having it spread out and then giving the students the opportunity to head to the TAFE has worked well."
Among those getting a feel for what might be on offer post-school was Kate Cox who is in year 12 at St Francis College.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"It's been really good to learn about all of the different pathways that are out there ... I kind of thought uni was the only pathway after school, but finding out more about the non-ATAR opportunities that are available has been really good," she said.
Fellow St Francis College student Gemma Pastro said she had enjoyed learning more about the agriculture pathways for students, with Tateum Ingram also happy to explore the options at the expo.
"It's so good that they do this here every year ... everyone has been happy to answer all of our questions," Tateum said.
