As a diverse business, council sometimes has excess stock available to the community to purchase.
That has been the case recently where council opened up expressions of interest for several items, which were available for viewing at its Vance Estate depot.
In the past this has sometimes included machinery items and vehicles, but this time around it was limited to smaller pieces.
Council's acting group manager of operations Tom Steele said the process was a simple one.
Items that have been made available to the general public to play a bid on within the last week included diesel tanks that go on the back of utes, a spray rig, fencing wire and more.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"Whenever we have items or materials that are surplus to council's needs, that's when we open them up to the community for expressions of interest and for them to place a bid on," Mr Steele said.
"We'll run a public tender.
"We make every attempt to reuse these items ourselves, but some of them are no longer fit for purpose or as I said surplus to what we need them for, so that's when we offer them out for public tender."
What this means is the items don't go to waste and aren't placed unnecessarily in landfill.
Typically when council has items that will be offered to the council it will advertise this fact within its channels, online, in The Irrigator and through its own social media channels.

Last Wednesday, residents were invited to the council depot to view items that were on offer this time around.
Some of these may still remain, so for those who are interested, they can call council's offices to arrange a time to view what is on offer.
"People are more than welcome to organise to come and view the items and put in a bid," Mr Steele said.
