Students, staff, parents and Member for Murray Helen Dalton have been calling on the state government to provide funding for this to be done.

Now, the NSW government has announced money will be available within the 2021-22 budget to allow for upgrade work to be completed.

The female dormitories have not been renovated or upgraded in 28 years.

Earlier this year, YAHS students said they felt overlooked by the government when it came to the upgrade after assurances were made it would happen.

The school previously met with Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell and Nationals MLC Wes Fang, who promised planning would start for the work.

Now, the money has been allocated to the project.

"I have been knocking on doors on Macquarie Street to ensure Yanco Ag receives this funding and I am absolutely delighted the NSW government has committed to upgrading the female dormitories as part of the 2021-2022 NSW budget," Mr Fang said.

"The school, which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2022, has a key role in attracting and retaining regional and rural students, particularly females, to the agriculture industry.

"With this funding, the future of Yanco Ag is secure for many years to come."

Mrs Dalton welcomed the news of the money being allocated to the upgrade and said she would not rest until the work was completed.

"This shows the benefits of being marginal seat - it's something I have campaigned for relentlessly since being elected," she said.

"The pressure needs to continue though.

"The announcement was vague.

"We need to make sure the NSW government don't drag this out for years and do another cut-price job.

"I want to see a timeline for completion.

"I won't rest until the new dorms are built."

The dorms in their current condition have poor heating and cooling, parts of the ceiling appear to be collapsing and much more.

Students have said it affects their ability to study, sleep and, in general, feel comfortable in their personal surroundings.
