The Blueheelers were able to strike first as Richie Bamblett was able to break up the middle before passing off to Isaiah Potts, who scored under the post.

The Hawks were able to get themselves back into the game with Harry Daudravuni able to make the most of an overlap out wide before they went outwide again for success, with Jamain Morgan getting over to give his side the advantage.

Yanco made the most of their pressure to force a repeat set, and Troy Preston crashed over under the post before a mistake from Yenda's Josh Lavemai gave Damien Roden a chance to score from a crossfield kick from Talalelei Faoa.

The Blueheelers were able to get into strong field position with piggyback penalties with some quick hands from Mogliotti getting John Lolohea over the line.

From the next kick-off, Mogliotti was able to make a strong break before sending Potts through for his second of the afternoon and in the last play of the half, the Yenda utility was able to grubber close to the line and pounce on his own kick to see Yanco holding a narrow 24-22 lead.

Hawks coach Kane Hammond admited he was frustrated with the way the first half ended.

"I thought that we played so well in the first 30 minutes of the first half," he said.

"That 10 minutes period just before halftime when they scored three really soft tries and that was what really hurt us."

The Hawks were able to hit back 10 minutes into the second half when the Blueheelers let a bomb bounce which was gathered by Preston before he offloaded to Tymaine Ingram, who scored in the corner.

Just after the halfway mark of the second half, Isaiah Little-Buerckner was able to make a long break down the wing before scoring later in the play before Lavemai gave his side the lead.

Mogliotti was forced from the field with a hamstring injury, but Lavemai scored his second soon after to give his side an eight-point lead with eight minutes remaining.

The Hawks looked to have scored a late try before the play was called back to see Yenda hold out and take the two points.
