POLICE are investigating how a serious accident occurred in Leeton's CBD on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency services rushed to the intersection of Yarran Street and Dooley Lane around 4pm on Saturday following reports of an incident involving a dirt bike and motor vehicle.
Police said a 20-year-old male was riding a Yamaha dirt bike and was allegedly travelling in the wrong direction down Dooley Lane when he collided with the motor vehicle being driven by a 40-year-old person.
As a result, the man was thrown from the bike and hit the windscreen of the car.

Paramedics were also on scene, with passersby helping to render first before emergency services arrived.
Police said the man suffered a fracture to his right femur and he was taken to Wagga Base Hospital by ambulance for further treatment.
The driver of the vehicle was taken to Leeton hospital as a precaution.
Police also believe the dirt bike was unregistered. Investigations into the accident are continuing.
