Whitton Murrami P&C will hold a school holiday disco, with DJ ZED at the Whitton Hall on July 3 at 4pm.
This is a fundraiser for the upcoming school excursion to the Snowy Mountains.
The hall will also be the location for a school holiday kids club for children in kindergarten to year 6.
This will be held over three days from July 6 to July 8 from 10am to noon.
Each day will have activities and morning tea. This is being hosted by Jeff and Tracey Cottom from Leeton CRC Church.
The hall has been a lucky recipient of one of Essential Energy's $200 Community Hall Program Grants.
Anyone driving past the hall in the last couple of weeks will have also noticed that it has been getting a fresh coat of paint.
IN OTHER NEWS:
This is in preparation for the first of our big murals which will be painted by Carla Gottgens, with the help of a couple of local artists.
This work is expected to start next week.
Carla is the artist behind the Charred Memories artwork in the Memorial Park.
"This project has been waylaid by COVID travel restrictions for months and months, so it will be a welcome relief to be on site working with two local artists and actually be putting paint on the wall," Carla said.
"I have developed a fondness for the Leeton shire after researching the background of Whitton and the art deco history of Leeton for the previous sculptural works that were installed a few years ago.
"There is so much history in this area and using public art to bring this to the fore is a credit to those people behind the grant applications that have enabled this and other projects to go ahead."
There are more murals to come, so keep an eye out as they progress. It is going to be exciting to watch them all take shape.
As well as the murals, the buildings the facades are getting a facelift as well.
This has all come about thanks to Leeton Shire Council receiving a successful grant funding application.
