It may not seem that long ago, but the last festival was held in 2018 after the 2020 event was forced to be cancelled at the last minute in 2020 when the coronavirus pandemic started to rear its ugly head in Australia.
However, organisers are hoping to put all of that behind them as they start to ramp up their planning ahead of next year's Easter festivities.
Held biennially, the festival is a chance for the community to celebrate the year's rice harvest, as well as join together to mark all that is great about Leeton shire.
Visitors are of course welcome, with all of the favoured events expected to return in 2022.
This includes the treasured street parade, balloon glow, Festival on Mountford, Leeton's Longest Lunch and, of course, the Ambassador Quest competition.
The Ambassador Quest was able to go ahead for the last event as it is held up in the lead up to the festival. However, a virtual crowning of the winners instead of the usual ceremony in Mountford Park was the way it wrapped up in 2020.
"We're definitely hoping to do something for our entrants and winners from 2020 in the 2022 event," festival director Julie Axtill said.
"We're really lucky in that a lot of what we had planned for last year and vendors and people that were coming, which we had put deposits on or booked, are happy to come back.
"It's sort of taken some of the planning out if that makes sense. It's the same with our sponsors too. Anyone who kept their sponsor deal with us just moves over to 2022.
"We're really hoping everything will be able to go ahead as planned, so we can give everyone something to look forward to and for our locals to celebrate."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Anyone interested in volunteering their time with the organising committee is welcome to attend planning meetings, held on the third Thursday of each month at QPL in Leeton from 7pm.
Those interested in being part of the Ambassador Quest should also get in touch with Mrs Axtill.
