Hotel Leeton's Hannah Middleton and Rory Walker will join Team Grasshoppers as part of the Big Bush Freeze in Griffith, raising funds for motor neurone disease.
The event is part of Daniher's Drive and is attempting to raise $50,000 in the fight against this insidious disease.
The Big Bush Freeze will be held on August 14 at half-time of the Griffith Swans and Narrandera Eagles Riverina Football League first grade match at Exies Oval.
There will be plenty of fundraising festivities on the day, including a chopper drop.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"It's really important to raise awareness about MND as it impacts around 2000 people in Australia," Miss Middleton said.
"Every day two Australians are diagnosed with MND ... there is no cure nor an effective treatment for MND, so that's why we need to raise as much money as possible to put it into research and develop an effective treatment or, even better, a cure.
"We want to help make a difference for those who are suffering along with people who have a loved one who is effected by this terrible disease."
The Big Bush Freeze will be a similar concept to the Big Freeze at the 'G, which has been made famous by former AFL footballer and coach Neale Daniher who has MND and has been pivotal in raising millions of dollars and awareness for the disease as part of his foundation.
This will see both Miss Middleton and Mr Walker join with others from their team to dress up in an outfit of their choosing and head down the slide into freezing water in front of the crowd on the day.
"I was nominated for the last 'big freeze' - it was a fun day and is for a good cause, so I thought it would a good idea to throw Hannah in the deep end and get her to go down too (this year)," Mr Walker said.
"(I'm) no really nervous (about the slide), it is bloody cold, but it's all worth it.
"So, if everyone can spare something small, just $1 can go along way to helping someone in need.
"MND can affect anyone, so we need everyone in the community to try to jump on board and get the awareness out there."
Both Mr Walker and Miss Middleton were looking forward to seeing everyone's outfits on the day and have put the call out to the community to make suggestions on what they themselves should wear.
