Twenty-five years ago Sally Hill started the Leeton Physiotherapy Centre, putting in countless hours, blood, sweat and tears into building it up to be the first-class health practice it is today.

Mrs Hill has recently made the decision to step back as owner of the business, handing over the reins to fellow physiotherapist and local resident Craig Townsend.

She will remain on the team, making the transition seamless, while also being on hand to assist Mr Townsend whenever he has a question or two.

With the COVID-19 pandemic ongoing and rules changing all of the time, there's no doubting it is a hard time for businesses.

However, both Mrs Hill and Mr Townsend were confident the Leeton Physiotherapy Centre would continue to provide the excellent service the community has become accustomed to.

What the pair would like to see is more physios coming to Leeton to join the team, which not only provides health care to residents, but is a vital cog in the community.

Staff members have always been involved with community and sporting groups, while also providing vital services within the shire's aged care homes, health programs, hospital visits and much more.

This is something Mr Townsend said he will be continuing.

"I'm really looking forward to the challenge, but it's exciting at the same time," he said.

"Luckily I still have Sal here.

"We will still be providing the same care and programs that we always have.

"Sal has worked really hard to make sure (Leeton Physiotherapy Centre) is the business it is today."

After so many years of working long hours and growing and developing the business, but also mentoring students and young physios, Mrs Hill said it would be nice to enjoy a change of pace.

"It was pretty daunting starting the business 25 years ago because in our degree and, I'm sure this is something Craig will back me up on, we don't receive any training on actually running a business," she said.

"It's been a lot of hard work, but rewarding as well.

"We have always had a great team here and we've always tried to give back to the community and be involved with the town.

"There's definitely a lot of highlights and memories, but I'm not going anywhere.

"I'm just able now to perhaps work a few less hours, get home at a decent time and not have to worry about all of the paperwork.

"It was just time to step back and focus a bit more on life outside of work."

Both Mrs Hill and Mr Townsend thanked the community for its ongoing support.
