Dedication and hard work was halted with the NSW government order resulting in tighter COVID-19 restrictions.
All was not lost, however.
There were friendships, connections and collaborations formed which remain the essence of strength and growth in the community.
Our community volunteers are not defeated, they are preparing for future events and other opportunities.
The impact of COVID-19 has shaken many volunteer and charity organisations who continue, not by any government support, but through many hours of fundraising activities that enable volunteers to provide support throughout our community and beyond.
St Peter's Anglican Church Mothers Union is one example.
They have several fundraisers during the year, including the church fete and Christmas in July events that fund their support programs, the latter cancelled due to the latest restrictions.
IN OTHER NEWS:
St Peter's Anglican Church Mothers Union have committed volunteers who knit 100 per cent cotton knitted prosthesis for breast cancer thrivers as a part of the "Knitted Knockers Australia" project.
As a part of the Global Mothers Union, they create twin knitted hearts that are given out in hospitals to patients and their family so that those receiving support can feel more connected.
Sensory blankets, or "fidget blankets" are also heartfelt items they make and donate to aged care facilities to soothe those patients suffering dementia, as well as crisis care bags for the local women's refuge.
Our world is rapidly responding to this pandemic with the ripples of financial strain on our business community.
Please also consider the essential services provided by volunteer organisations that may be overlooked in these unsettling times.
They are hit by financial strain with little avenues for recompense. The quiet achievers that do great things need financial support because without them, the world may lose that essential fragrance of gentle caring and support to the vulnerable that is the DNA of our humanity.
