United travelled to Wagga for the match after another interrupted couple of weeks thanks to rounds that were washed out.
With the team eager to get out and compete again, United were on the back foot early.
Windy and soggy conditions underfoot didn't help early on.
"We started okay in the first 20 minutes, but then we conceded a really poor goal from a corner," coach Frank Alampi said.
"We did have some opportunities, their keeper made some good saves and their defence was pretty good. So credit to Wagga for that."
With Leeton United down 1-0 at half-time, the side went into the break knowing they needed to change things around.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Alampi challenged his side to go out and really put in during the second half and that's exactly what they did.
Fred Gardner scored early after the break and that seemed to give the Leeton side confidence.
Wagga United were down a player in the second half after one of their men was sent off.
However, Alampi said this didn't really have much impact.
"I'm not sure when exactly he was sent off, but we were on top by then," Alampi said.
"I didn't think it made much difference. I was still really confident after we got that first goal.
"The boys picked up and proved they can come back from a deficit."
Henri Gardner scored Leeton's second goal of the match, with his and Fred's younger brother chipping in for the side's third and final goal.
"We also missed a penalty at 3-1 and they missed one with about five or 10 minutes to go as well," Alampi said.
"I think the boys were glad to get back out there and get going again."
Alampi listed co-captain Joey Fondacaro as one of the standouts on the day, as well as Fred Gardner and Jake Shelton.
This weekend Leeton United are scheduled to return home to MIA Sportsground where they will take on South Wagga.
