Now, she has taken on a new role as Leeton Shire Council's economic and strategic development manager.
Mrs Evans started in the position in May and has been spending time laying foundations for what she wants to achieve, how she can involve the current business community and where more opportunities can be found for the shire.
With 24 years of experience in the banking industry in Leeton and the wider MIA, her knowledge of the shire's economic, its growth and what drives it is already helping her in this new role.
Mrs Evans has been spending time visiting businesses in the shire and will be continuing this process in the coming months with the idea of hearing their perspectives and letting them know what support she can offer.
"I can provide them with information, access to services and support in the current situation we're living in," she said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"I want to get to know the businesses in town ... if they want to expand, how can we help?
"There's a lot of information and support we as a council can provide them."
Attracting new industry is also a goal for Mrs Evans, as well as supporting and sustaining what is already here and helping reinvigorate confidence in the shire.
"There hasn't actually been anyone in this designated role at council for some time, so I think the first 12 months of me being here is all about building those relationships with businesses and gaining their trust," she said.
"There's a couple of big projects coming up that I can't say too too much about yet, but I am excited to sink my teeth into those.
I want to get to know the businesses in town ... if they want to expand, how can we help?
