Horses had just completed their preliminary for the fourth race when a bank of three lights went out coming into the home straight.
Leeton secretary Joanne Punch revealed there had been a fire in one of the light poles, which caused the issue.
"Something has happened to the bottom of the pole at the 600," Punch said.
"There was a bit of a fire which has burnt out everything.
"There was a second bank that went off as well.
"It's all out of our control unfortunately."
Three electricians assessed the issue on course while the club's electrician was also contacted.
The extent of the issue left no option but to call off the remainder of the meeting.
"He said it was a fault that was not a quick fix," Punch said.
"It could take a couple of hours in the daylight just to find where the problem came back to."
As such only three races were able to be run.
Leeton are looking to have the issue rectified before their next meeting on September 7.
