Leeton Shire Council is continuing to move forward with putting together a draft housing strategy that hopes to address some of these factors.
There is no doubting the need for more affordable housing the shire, with demand skyrocketing in recent years thanks to the cost of living continuing to rise, the pandemic, employment and many other issues.
Meanwhile, those looking to build a new home in Leeton have very few options, with not a lot of land available to do so.
More is slowly being opened up and developed, but it can be a lengthy process.
Council's economic and strategic development manager Michelle Evans is putting together the strategy after she started in the role recently.
"The housing strategy will look at options to increase housing supply to support population growth and future economic development," Mrs Evans said.
She said some of the key areas of focus for the strategy would be the increase in the availability of affordable and social housing and ensuring that planning is done now for the future needs of the community.
The strategy itself has been in development for some time, with Mrs Evans now taking over the project since taking on the role.
Already data has been collated to give council a picture or forecast of what the current situation is and what the future could hold.

"Data has been collated and we are now working on the strategic planning to include future essential infrastructure, services and potential housing expansion areas," Mrs Evans said.
"This allows for future population growth and industry investment.
"Once we have finalised the draft strategy it will be placed on public exhibition for community and stakeholder feedback."
Residents will then be encouraged to give their thoughts to assist in the process and have these comments taken into consideration before the strategy is finalised.
