AS LEETON makes it way through its second week of lockdown, residents have been urged to keep following the rules in the hopes the community will be "released" from harsh restrictions in the coming days.

On Monday the state recorded 818 new cases of COVID-19, making it the third consecutive day of more than 800 people reported as having contracted the virus.
To date, Leeton remains virus free, but the community has been urged to keep following the lockdown rules that are in place in order to keep it that way.
Over the weekend the Murrumbidgee Local Health District recorded its first case of COVID-19 since 2020 after a person was found to have the virus and had travelled to areas of Lake Cargelligo and Hillston.
The person is isolating outside of the MLHD and residents in those towns turned out in droves over the weekend to get tested.
Leeton residents have also been urged to get vaccinated, with the shire currently recording good rates of community member rolling up their sleeves for the jab.

So far, between 50 and 59 per cent of the eligible population in Leeton shire has received their first dose of the vaccination.
Between 20 and 29 per cent of the eligible Leeton shire population has been fully vaccinated so far.
The total number of vaccinations administrated across the shire sits between 6000 and 6999.
Vaccinations are currently being offered at the majority of Leeton shire's medical practices and COVID-19 tests are still being conducted at the Leeton District Hospital.
New rules also came into force on Monday that Leeton residents must comply with, namely now wearing a mask outdoors at all times except when exercising.
However, a mask must be carried even when exercising.
