THE announcement that the Riverina, including Leeton shire, was coming out of our month-long lockdown was welcome news last Thursday.
Not only did it bring much welcome relief to our local business owners, but also to our Leeton shire teachers and parents who have been juggling home school and work.
I was in the latter camp and, I must say I was facing a losing battle, particularly in the last few weeks with my middle child even offering up bribes for me to complete his work.
Nice try buddy, but $10 just doesn't cut it.
It was so great to see the residents rediscovering Leeton in their five kilometre bubble during the recent weeks.
The walking track, Leeton Skate Park, No 1 ovals and parks certainly got a workout.
IN OTHER NEWS:
As well as this, many who had never visited Fivebough Wetlands discovered this natural wonder in our backyards.
At risk of sounding like a broken record - I continue to encourage everyone to support our local businesses during this time.
During lockdown we got a taste of what life would be like without businesses in town, so coming off the back of that it's important that we buy a coffee, buy a newspaper, purchase a gift for a friend or buy something we need in our local community.
Every dollar spent whether big or small can make a difference for our local business owners.
