The Leeton library saw an increase in the number of residents taking advantage of its home library service throughout the recent lockdown.
This interest has reignited a love of reading among those who have taken up the offer of having their favourite titles, magazines and resources delivered to their door.
This service is continuing post-lockdown and is available to those who can't visit the library due to poor health, they may be constrained with a disability, carers, those with a chronic illness, frail aged and a resident in a care facility.
It is a service that staff take great pride in delivering, according to Leeton library co-ordinator Fiona Stevens.
"It's really designed for people who can't come to the library ... it was operational before lockdown, but we kept it going during this most recent lockdown," she said.
"We thought it was important to still deliver this service, especially as people were stuck in their homes. There was a huge uptake during the lockdown."
IN OTHER NEWS:
While this service is a way to keep people connected to the library when they may not be able to attend in person, as well as using these books and materials for entertainment at home, there's also been another underlying benefit.
"It's been about having those connections with the community, but in some cases it's been those welfare checks ... just dropping off our books and saying hello is a way to check in on people and make sure they are okay," Mrs Stevens said.
