Hospitality venues have been among the hardest hit amid the last 18 months of restrictions and lockdowns during the pandemic.
For the Leeton Soldiers Club there have been some silver linings, with the closed doors meaning tradesmen could get stuck into phase one of its renovations.
It's been a tough year for the Soldiers Club following on from a ram raid in January, which caused extensive damage to the inside of the building, as well as causing structural issues.
"We're hoping its onwards and upwards from here," operations manager Alison Egan said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"Of course lockdown isn't great where we had to shut our doors and again have staff stood down.
"However, the silver lining for us was being able to get a big chunk of that renovation work done without having to move around our patrons.
"It's looking really good and we've been getting lots of positive comments."
The main bar area has been given a complete facelift, as have the adjoining areas.
The dining area will be the next project when funds allow for it to go ahead.
Meanwhile, at the Leeton and District Bowling Club, secretary-manager David Campbell said trading had been slow since doors re-opened.
"I think some people are still a little bit hesitant to be going out," he said.
"We have been pretty quiet, but we'd certainly love to see people come in.
"The restaurant is open. We can only have social bowls, so that's affected numbers too."
Both clubs had some concerns about what may happen if the NSW government mandates only vaccinated residents will be able to enter their facilities.
Both Mrs Egan and Mr Campbell agreed they would like need someone on the door of each club checking the vaccine statuses of patrons when they check-in should the rules come into force.
In the meantime, both clubs are open and ready to welcome residents for a meal, drink and a chat with their nearest and dearest under the current restrictions.
