Hulong House is aiming for a November opening date in the town with owners Deb Jansen and Suellen Roberts busily preparing the store in the lead up.
A complete renovation of the building, which is located in Whitton's main street, has been underway for some time.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Hulong House will be a store offering antiques, coffee and cake, gifts, artwork and, in time, workshops focusing on a variety of different topics and ideas.
The facade of the building has already been painted to reflect its art deco heritage and soon a huge mural will be painted to show the history of the store when it was once a mechanics.
"It's always been something I wanted to do and this building came up for sale," owner Deb Jansen said.
"The idea started off just as an art studio for me, but because the space is so great it has grown legs and turned into vintage items, crafts and antiques, man cave items, gardening and more.
"It's going to be a real eclectic mix of items - we really can't wait to open up."
Ms Jansen and Suellen Roberts are the pair behind the new venture, which is not only hoping to capitalise on the traffic going through the town on the way to the Whitton Malt House, but it is also aiming to be a destination shop where people from all across the region come to see what they can find.
Both are proud Whitton residents, with the name of the store even a hark back to the "good old days".
"Hulong was the name of Whitton before it was known as Whitton, so we thought that would be a nice touch," Ms Jansen said.
"We're both really excited to see our vision come together.
"At this stage we are hoping to open in November. It's a good spot here. Whitton is a great town."
