As part of the 2021 International Travel Awards the business has been named the Best Motel in NSW.
It's a huge honour for the Leeton accommodation provider, with owner Wayne Bond over the moon.
The International Travel Awards are organized by Golden Tree Events, with the awards crafted to honor the excellent performers in the tourism and travel industry around the world.
The participants are from tourism boards, travel companies, hotels, villas, apartments, attractions, theme parks and tourism individuals.
Several hurdles need to be jumped in order to win one of the awards, including the initial nomination, first level jury review, voting, inspection, a final jury review and finally the winning announcement.
Mr Bond said it was a shock to receive the email saying his business had won the Best Motel in NSW category.
"It's based a lot on our customers thoughts and reviews and what they think, so it's really a credit to our whole team," he said. "We have a fantastic staff here.
"We want the people who come and stay here to enjoy their time and the property.
"It's a really big honour for us."
Mr Bond was hopeful with regional travel starting to pick up again that more people would come to Leeton and stay in the town.
While lockdowns and border restrictions have limited the number of guests in recent months, the Leeton Heritage Motor Inn has been undergoing a transformation in some areas.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The business received a $10,000 grant from Destination NSW's Refresh and Renew Fund, which enabled it to upgrade one of its rooms to a king kitchenette.
This same work has also been done in other rooms to completely reinvigorate the accommodation and allow for somewhere comfortable to sleep, space to work and cook.
The motor inn also received a $25,000 grant from the federal government's Hotel Energy Uplift Program.
According to Mr Bond, this money has given the business a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunty to upgrade some windows to double glazed to improve energy efficiency and guest room comfort.
"We also purchased some 'smart' AC repotes and did some ceiling insulation," Mr Bond said.
