After what has been a long two months for the sportsmen and women, the light at the end of the tunnel has finally arrived, with NSW reaching the 80 per cent double vaccination milestone ahead of schedule.

There has been no community sport since August 14, when the winter sporting codes were put on hold and then eventually cancelled due to the statewide lockdown.
Now with the state reaching the 80 per cent mark, the summer sports can begin to start preparing for the start of their season.
The Griffith and District Cricket Association, which features a number of players from Leeton, will get underway on October 30 as planned despite the opportunity to start the season a week earlier.

President Tim Rand feels the extra week is necessary to ensure that everything is ready to go for the effective start of the season.
"I believe we still need time to get wickets up and organise teams, especially 3rd grade," he said.
"The Exies wickets need some more time as the cold weather has not allowed grass to grow on the pitch, and the uncertainty around football season meant a later start."
Meanwhile, Yanco and Narrandera Cricket Clubs will start to gear up for their first season in the Ardlethan Barellan competition.
