In September, council told The Irrigator it had located an troublesome leak at the Leeton Regional Aquatic Centre - a cracked PVC branch pipe on the western side of the 50-metre pool.
At this time, while only one branch pipe appeared to have cracked, others were showing signs of distress, so council's best option was to replace the whole section rather than risk a further crack during the swim season.
Council's general manager Jackie Kruger said workers were "pulling out all stops" to have the 50-metre pool and learn to swim pool opened as soon as possible.
"When we replaced the first section of pipe it became apparent that the issues extended along the length of the pipework, so a decision was made to replace the full 50-metres of pipe along the western wall," she said.
"This effectively doubled the task at hand but the team has done their best to deliver the remediation works within the original timeframe. I can't thank everyone enough."
IN OTHER NEWS:
In response to a question on whether the cause of the leaks has been found, the general manager said those details were still being investigated.
"There are various opinions as to what has caused the pipework to be compromised and experts are being consulted to help council determine the cause or causes, including what repairs may be required on the eastern side of the pool next year when the season closes," Mrs Kruger said.
"Our primary focus right now is getting the pool open in time for summer."
Mayor Paul Maytom said a testing phase would be held at the pool next week.
"Delaying our Leeton Regional Aquatic Centre opening date has been frustrating, but we are pleased with the progress that is being made," councillor Maytom said.
"Fortunately our Whitton pool opened this week, which will bring some relief for residents who are keen to get swimming."
Mrs Kruger also re-confirmed the high slide will not be ready for this current season.
"We know the shire's younger generation will be disappointed, but council is fully committed to delivering a new slide for the 2022 summer season," she said.
