A former Leeton Shire Councillor, Mr Doig refers to himself as 'community minded', telling The Irrigator that he would always have the towns 'best interests at heart'.
"I love Leeton, I think it is a great town and I want to see it continue to grow which is why I am running as a candidate for council," Mr Doig said.
"It is a wonderful place to live and I want to help make it a place where my kids and every kid can grow up and want to stay in town and live their whole lives here."
After serving two consecutive terms back to back from 2007, Mr Doig said he had many proud achievements from his time in local government, and hoped to build upon them.
"When I was previously a councillor the financial side was always really strong, our roads and maintenance for council facilities was also top par back then and I worked alongside other council staff to set up plans to maintain this," Mr Doig said.
"Since then I believe our roads and facilities have gone downhill.
"That's what needs attention, and what should be improved for our community."
