Spread out on the island, around the cenotaph and across the streets Leeton residents young and old showed up to pay their respects.
As the clock struck 11, President of the Leeton RSL sub - branch Peter Williams welcomed attendees, speaking of the hardships and sacrifices servicemen and women have experienced in service of our great nation.
With all the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 rules and regulations, Mr Williams said it was a 'huge relief' that the service was able to go ahead as planned.
"The service turned out really well, the large crowds that we get are certainly appreciated," Mr Williams said.
"Originally the day was titled as Armistice Day to mark the end of WW1 but after WW2 and all the wars in succession of that in Korea, Vietnam and more recently in the middle east and Afghanistan, it was renamed as Remembrance Day in commemoration of all Australian veterans."
Representatives from both the Gralee School and Leeton High School were in attendance with Leeton school captains Jhie Deaton and Meghan Davidson-Curtain laying a wreath at the foot of the cenotaph.

"I have been and intend to continue coming to services for many years to commemorate Remembrance Day with the community," Mayor Maytom said.
"It's great to come here and recognise the contribution and sacrifices that were made for our country.
"To see so many people paying respect is immeasurably important and I am proud to see how many people we have here today and hope it will only continue to grow."
According to Mr Williams he was looking forward to Anzac Day in April.
"Remembrance Day is a day for us to pause and reflect whilst Anzac Day is a day to mark Australia's military history," Mr Williams said.
"I look forward to seeing a lot of old and hopefully new faces in a few months time."
