According to Mrs Reilly, running for council had always been at the back of her mind.
"Running for Leeton Shire Council is something I have thought about for many years but the timing hasn't been quite right for me," Mrs Reilly said.
"I think it is important to ensure you are able to commit to the role and feel that I am now ready to do that."
A longtime Leeton local, Mrs Reilly told The Irrigator that she wanted to lobby for important changes in the community if she were to be elected.
Mrs Reilly also said that she wanted to implement new ideas to 're-energise' the Leeton community.
"Together we can keep our water for agriculture, get the health services and facilities we deserve, prioritise flexible housing solutions for our community and provide a voice for the villages surrounding Leeton," Mrs Reilly said.
