"A big reason behind me running for council again is that I feel like there is more that I want to do for the community," Mr Smith said.
"We have taken on a massive capital works program that will run over through to the next council term so I would like to see those projects seen through to the end."
The program is one of the biggest that Leeton Shire Council has ever undertaken with projects redeveloping the Roxy Theatre, the Leeton Regional Aquatic and Leisure Centre and Wamoon sewerage system still underway.
Mr Smith that 'health in general' would be at the forefront of his campaign.
"This council has worked very hard to get some better services for our local hospital and health services but unfortunately it has fallen on deaf ears," Mr Smith said.
"Our fight is ramping up and I am hopeful that we are getting somewhere with the MLHD.
"The wheels are now in motion, I am very passionate about this and I want to continuing fighting for these essential health services for the community."
According to Mr Smith, he considered himself 'laid-back and approachable' for community members to discuss any questions, queries, concerns and ideas with him.
"I consider myself to be a very good listener, I am also an action person," Mr Smith said.
"I don't just sit there and nod my head and just agree, I like to get things done and will get what needs to be done for the interests of the community."

He also noted that he was keen to continuing finding ways to support the towns agriculture industries and keep them health post pandemic.
Current deputy mayor George Weston was also Mr Smith's pick for mayor following the retirement of Councillor Paul Maytom.
"I think there are some really good candidates this year and I look forward to sitting alongside virtually everyone," Mr Smith said.
"It's a good mixture of people who have put their hands up, let us hope that we get the right mix of people voted in to see through the great work that the current councillors have begun.
