Polling booths opened at 8am across the shire on Saturday, with 7698 residential and non-residential electors enrolled for the vote.
Tallying soon got underway on Saturday evening when polling booths closed at 6pm and continued into the evening.
As of 1.30pm on Monday, the count had not been update online on the NSW Electorial Commission since Saturday night.
Leading the charge for first preference votes so far is Paul Smith, with 495 of the 3247 total formal votes counted so far.
He is followed by Tony Reneker with 390, Krystal Maytom's 325, Sandra Nardi's 301 and rounding out the top five was George Weston on 299.
This group is followed by Michael Kidd on 289, Tony Ciccia with 253, Matt Holt's 179 and Tracey Morris on 178.
Outside of the top nine at the moment is Daryl Odewahn on 110, Patty Bowles on 92, Brian Conroy 86, Emerson Doig 80, Lynsey Reilly 75, Bill Barwick 53 and Jo Roberts 42.
With plenty of voting still to come, including the all-important pre-polling results, there's still plenty of reason for many of the candidates to hold out hope.
Numbers will continue to move and change in the coming days, but a clearer picture should come through later in the week.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Speaking to The Irrigator on Saturday outside the Madonna Place polling booth was Ms Nardi, who was hoping to be re-elected for a second term.
"I'm excited for the results, but nervous as well," she said.
"It's been great to have 16 candidates put their hand up.
"Last election we had 15, so it's good to have an extra one there this time and more women too."
