KNIVES and a crossbow were allegedly used to threaten witnesses who had noticed two youths damaging a phone booth in Yanco.

Police allege the two 17-year-old boys were seen by residents around midnight on January 1 damaging a phone booth in Main Avenue.
When the witnesses approached the boys they allegedly fled, but returned a short time later and were allegedly armed with knives.
Police said the youths threatened the witnesses before lunging at them with the knives and damaging a number of vehicles, as well as smashing windows of a house.

The boys then left before allegedly returning once more, this time armed with a crossbow and again threatened the witnesses.
Leeton police were contacted, arriving a short time later and were able to arrest the two 17-year-olds.
They were taken to the Leeton Police Station where they were charged with 16 offences.
They will appear before the Leeton Children's Court on January 18.
