Leeton residents will be humming along to Christmas carols when the 21st Light Up Leeton concert marks the start of the festive season.
This year’s concert promises to be bigger and better with new artists to perform alongside the ever popular schools acts.
Vanessa Jennings will start the concert this year by singing some Christmas songs to get everyone in the mood before the arrival of Santa and the characters.
“This is Vanessa’s first time leading the singing, so a big welcome to her,” concert convenor Julie Maytom said.
“We would also like to thank Barb Wright for all the years of leading us at the start of our concert.”
The newly formed Leeton Girls Choir are an exciting addition to the concert.
Individual acts include Jack Martin and his father John.
Jack and John both performed last year in Beauty and the Beast to rave revues and this year Jack starred in the production of Grease at the Marian College.
Leeton High School have created a “mix-up mash” which will feature a singing and dancing performance from talented students and some acts from St Francis College.

“The committee thanks all the schools, students, parents, organisations, clubs, businesses, bus companies and residents for their support to make this very special month of December a truly Community Christmas,” Light Up Leeton committee chairman Carl King said.
Leeton Lions train
The Leeton Lions train has been refurbished over the last couple of years and it is one of the traditional features of the Light up Leeton Christmas Carnival.
Both children and adults alike join in the training and head around town to take in the sights.
The train also does night tours of the Christmas lights during December.

New lights
Some new lights will be unveiled to celebrate 21 years of Light Up Leeton.
The large water tower at the top of Chelmsford place opposite the Leeton Ambulance station will be lit up with lazer star lights.
The committee hope to light up the large pine tree at the bottom of Chelmsford Place at the roundabout.
This tree used to be lit up many years ago and was a great attraction.
A costing and feasibility study is being done and, if possible, it will become a focal point in the town.
