Mrs Tabain grew up on her family's farm near Bedgerabong, which is between Forbes and Condobolin.
She has an older sister and a younger brother, with her childhood spent helping her father and brother on the farm, playing sport and being involved in as many community activities as possible.
Mrs Tabain is a teacher at Leeton Public School, which is another family trait she inherited.
“Both my parents were teachers, so I do think it's in my blood,” she said.
“I always had a very strong interest in teaching and probably always knew I would become a teacher, but I was also very drawn to agriculture.”
Mrs Tabain studied a double degree in Commerce and Agriculture at the University of Western Sydney (Hawkesbury).
Upon completion she worked for the NSW Farmers’ Association for a period of time, before deciding to study primary education through CSU.
After this she also completed a masters degree in special educaton and has taught at a number of country schools.
In 2010 she moved to Leeton and she is now married to her husband Matthew, who is a farmer, and the pair have two children – Thomas, 4, and Madeleine, 2.
“Leeton has an amazing community spirit and is fabulous at banding together in times of need.,” Mrs Tabain said.
“I also enjoy that I can go anywhere in town and nearly be guaranteed to see someone I know. I love when I take my children to the parks, they know some of the other children playing there.
“The town is very accepting and I love the community feel, especially at children's sports, where everyone helps out and makes sure all the children receive support and encouragement.”
Mrs Tabain has been actively involved in the community since moving to town, including roles with the Leeton Show Society and she is currently the vice president of the Leeton Preschool Committee.
“We are very happy living in Leeton,” Mrs Tabain said.”I think it's a fabulous place to raise a family, so I can see us living here for a very long time.”
