Mr Martyn and his wife Norma have owned and operated the butcher shop in Parkview since 1963 and are renowned for their continental sausages not just in Leeton, but across the country.
When he first started out, Mr Martyn didn't intend on staying too long, but he hasn't looked back since.
"We were looking at moving to Albury or Canberra, but decided to stay," he said.
The shop is open each day, with both Mr and Mrs Martyn clocking on every morning.
A typical morning involves getting stock ready for the many customers that come through the door.
Their skills are also a drawcard, according to Mrs Martyn.
"We've had Woolies send some of their staff down for some training before," she said.
"We just love it."
The pair are helped out in the shop by other employees, but believe they will be in business for a long time to come.
"We'll keep on going as long as we can," Mr Martyn said.
"When we first started up there was only a stony hill across the road and now it has changed so much.
"I think it's a pretty big achievement (50 years) ... the last 15 to 20 years has just slipped by really."
Mr Martyn said he had one favourite part of each day.
"It's definitely the customers," he said.
"Thank you to all past and present customers for your support.
"That is what keeps us going every day."
