THE high school ovals played host to a NRL junior development clinic last Thursday with 63 boys and girls taking part.
Run by game development officers from across the Riverina, the day highlighted skills of the game, but was primarily aimed at having fun.
Game development officer Tim Del Guzzo said the day was a huge success with a target of 50 children surpassed.
"It is all the fun skills of rugby league," Del Guzzo said.
"There is plenty of kicking and passing and a bit of fun with the tackle bags.
"They all get their own kit, including a brand new Steeden."
Eight development clinics were being held across the region, including at Griffith, Wagga and Narrandera.
The Leeton clinic featured groups rotating through six different skills activities over the two-hour block.
The turnout at Leeton was better than the biggest held at Wagga, which Del Guzzo put down to the work of the Leeton Junior Rugby League committee.
"(Kids) love these clinics, they're just fun," Del Guzzo said.
"It also gives parents a break for two hours."
