THERE has been no rest for Southern Inland women's sevens players with representative teams taking part in tournaments over recent weeks.
The team, which featured players from Wagga City, CSU, Ag College and Griffith, alongside Leeton's Georgia Wallace and Remi Wilton, played at sevens competitions in Bowral on September 27 and Mudgee on October 4.
Highlighting the strength of the Southern Inland women's competition, the team second finished at Bowral and then dominated the Mudgee tournament to take out the cup and the $750 prizemoney.
Playing games in quick succession at Bowral, the opposition teams could not match the pace and precision of the SIRU side, while its defence was devastating.
In the pool games, SIRU defeated Penrith Phoenix 27-7, the Mudgee Honey Badgers 56-0 and Macquarie University 36-5.
In warm temperatures and after a small break - which included SIRU's Lele Katoa taking out a "beach sprint" competition over 100m to claim an esky full of drinks - the girls then played Uni in the final and came away with a 31-5 win.
Wilton scored her usual bagful of tries across the four games, while Wallace scored in game three.
Coach Jack Burey was pleased with his side's performances over the two weekends, particularly as they had only three brief training runs together as a team.
There will be no further games until early next year.
