Mr Boots was the lead organiser of the Leeton Country Roundup, an annual music event that brings quality entertainment to residents and visitors alike.
He has decided to step down from the committee for health reasons, but is looking forward to perhaps attending as an audience member this year.
"It was becoming a bit too much," Mr Boots said.
"The plan now is to do a bit more travelling around, so if I'm here (this year) I'd say I would probably go.
"It's a great event for our town and I've enjoyed being part of it."
Last year's Country Roundup was another success, with the committee donating $37,000 back to Leeton shire organisations.
The lucky recipients were the Leeton Volunteer Rescue Association, Friends of Pastoral Care, the Leeton Breast Cancer Support Group, Carramar, Country Hope, Meals on Wheels, Gralee School and the Leeton Hospital Auxiliary.
"We're pleased to be able to donate this money again and know that it will stay in our town and help people here," Mr Boots said.
"That's the best part of being involved. You know you might be making a bit of a difference."
Mr Boots thanked his counterparts Rocky Sillis and Mark Hillier for their work in running the event and was hopeful some new faces would come on board the organising committee.
"David has certainly been a big part of the event and we would like to acknowledge all of his efforts over the years," Mr Sillis said.
"Even though we will still see him around, we will miss him."
