THE NRMA says the drop in the price of petrol in Sydney and Melbourne has been "higher, quicker and far more generous" than the MIA.

NRMA western director Graham Blight said motorists were still hurting at the pump - even though the price of petrol has dropped by more than seven cents in recent days.
Mr Blight said the average price of petrol - $1.27 per litre - was still "creaming it".
"The latest terminal price in Sydney is $1.08 per litre," he said.
"There is three cents in freight so there is $1.12, give them 10 cents for profit and you have $1.22.
"They are getting to what it should be but they are still creaming it."
Mr Blight said the NRMA recently completed a petrol price analysis, which revealed Australian motorists are saving up to $25 million per day since the price of oil halved.
But he said regional motorists were yet to see the full savings.
Some petrol stations in Sydney are selling petrol below $1 per litre for the first time in seven years.
Petrol prices across the Riverina are still higher than Sydney, with Hay faring the worst at $1.42 per litre.
In Leeton, the price of petrol is three cents dearer than Griffith.
Petrol operators have repeatedly blamed the cost of transporting petrol from the terminal to regional centres, but motorists have questioned the premium of that size.
"When you see the prices elsewhere you start to realise a lot of our blokes are not giving us a fair deal," Mr Blight said.
"We don't mind local blokes making a profit - we need them to - but it's when they seem to take to much that we get angry."
Mr Blight said motorists should be using social media to discourage "unfair" petrol prices.
